Dell today rolled out an update to its popular Inspiron 15 and 17 line of laptops. These new budget oriented laptops, the Inspiron 15-3521 and Inspiron 17-3721, are much thinner than the previous generation of Inspirons. Dell is claiming a 21% reduction in thickness so that both the Inspiron 15 and 17 are now 1” thin. While that’s not quite Ultrabook thin, when you factor in the $399.99 starting price of the new Inspiron 15 with an Intel Core i3 processor and the fact it has an optical drive, it’s pretty impressive. To go along with the slimmer profile, the weight has also been shaved by close to 1lb on the Inspiron 17-3721 – the Inspiron 15 comes in at 4.9lbs and the Inspiron 17 is 5.8lbs.
In addition to the budget oriented Inspirons, the new Inspiron 15R-5521 and Inspiron 17R-5721 offer a slightly more premium design with some metal finishes and higher end starting specs. The Inspiron 15R-5521 will start at $549.99 and the 17R-5721 will start at $699.99.
These new Inspiron models are available immediately via Dell.com with up to Intel Core i7 configurations.
