HP Releases Video of Upcoming dv4, dv6, dv7 Ivy Bridge Laptops

Looks like the release of HP’s flagship Pavilion lineup of consumer laptops with Intel Ivy Bridge processors is inching ever closer.  HP has just thrown up some videos of a new dv4, dv6 and dv7 laptop on their “Personal Again” YouTube Channel.   Here’s the video of the new dv4 that HP is calling out as “new” and having what they call a new Mosaic design philosophy that the company will be integrating in their entire laptop lineup:

Finally, there’s a Pavilion g4, g6 and g7 update to Ivy Bridge.  The Pavilion g Series lineup is a more budget friendly set and not quite as exciting, though the video of the g4 would try to make you think differently:

HP calls the new g4 as having an “Alluring Design – Friendly and Curved” in their video.  We’ll refrain from comment on that little tagline.  Nonetheless, it does look pretty nice based on the video renderings.  As far as specs on the upcoming 2012 Pavilion g Series, we don’t know as much but here’s what we do know:

  • Processors: Intel Ivy Bridge Core i3 / Core i5
  • Model Numbers: g4-2XXX, g6-2XXX, g7-2XXX
  • Screen Size: 14”, 15.6” or 17”
  • Colors: Red, Grey, Pink (and more)
  • Graphics Options: Intel HD Graphics 4000,  AMD Radeon HD 7670M
  • Native Intel USB 3.0, HDMI
  • Synaptics ClickPad / TouchPad with Textured Finish

Below is a rendering of the Pavilion g6 from the video HP released:

While there’s no mention of release dates from HP yet (or leaks) the rumor is that April 29th we’ll see the Core i7 equipped dv6 and dv7 hit with the rest of the lineup following soon after in May.

I have purchased a dv6, the machine does what it says on the packet, but the beats audio is not as good as my 6yr old hp pavilion with b&m speakers. it also has a peculiar fault that hp cannot (or will not) fix. the battery catch on the base is very flimsy and the battery often falls off when you move it. the only answer is a bit of electrical tape on the base. search google for dv6 fault or you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbPMOrzX3fE
have a look before you buy.
