HP today announced a few new additions to its workstation lineup in the form of the ZBook 14, 15 and 17. The 14-inch ZBook qualifies as an Ultrabook, weighing in at less than 3.6lbs but with workstation type performance such as an Intel Core i7 4th generation processor (Haswell), 16GB of RAM and an option for SSD or up to 1TB of storage. The ZBook 14 will also have the option for a touchscreen, but not the super high 3,200 x 1,800 pixel resolution that the ZBook 15 and 17 will offer. Yes, you read that right, the 15-inch and 17-inch screen models will offer a QHD+ display for those that want squeeze as much onto their screen as possible. To power any 3D graphics you want to display on such a screen you can opt for either Nvidia or AMD dedicated graphics, though HP is offering no specifics on what models of GPU will make it into the ZBooks. Processor wise you will of course get the option for a Quad Core i7 Intel Haswell processor in the larger sized models. A Thunderbolt port is also standard on the ZBook 15 and 17 for those that need superfast data transfer speeds.
Availability for the new ZBook series will start in October and pricing will begin at $1,899 – new technology in a premium isn’t cheap you know.
